SETH RUDETSKY
Seth Rudetsky plays piano not only at some of the top Broadway shows, but also is an Emmy nominated comedy writer, award winning stand-up comic, and host of a weekly Broadway talk show, Seth's Broadway Chatterbox, at Don't Tell Mama which benefits Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS. In addition, he produces and conducts a number of high profile musical benefits for various charities. Rhapsody In Seth, Rudetsky's one-man show, has been nominated for a 2002 GLAAD Award for "Outstanding New York Theatre Production: Off-Off Broadway." Recently, Rudetsky served as creator, artistic producer and conductor for Funny Girl in concert starring Whoopi Goldberg and Bebe Neuwirth, his second concert version musical for The Actors Fund. His first show was the sold-out 20th Anniversary Dreamgirls concert starring Lillias White, Heather Headley and Audra MacDonald. Nonesuch Records recently recorded the Dreamgirls concert on a double CD. He was also the musical director for the Off-Broadway shows Pageant and Forever Plaid. On Broadway he played piano for The Producers, My Favorite Year, Les Miserables, Kiss of the Spider Woman, An Inspector Calls, How To Succeed In Business..., Patti LuPone Live, Ragtime, Saturday Night Fever, Grease! (assistant conductor) and Victor/Victoria (assistant conductor), Phantom... and Mamma Mia. For the past three years, he has hosted the weekly talkfest, "Seth's Broadway Chatterbox" at Don't Tell Mama, interviewing such stars as Matthew Broderick, Megan Mullally and Kristin Chenoweth. He was also the on-camera theatre correspondent for "New York Central," which ran for a year on the METRO channel, hosted by Michael Musto. He is a 3-time Emmy-nominated comedy writer for "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" and wrote for the 1999 and 2000 Grammy Awards, as well as the opening number for the 1998 and 2000 Tony Awards. Rudetsky also wrote the opening number for the last seven Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS Easter Bonnet Competition, in addition to a number of their Gypsy Of The Year shows. Seth also composed David Hyde Pierce's Cats audition song for his appearance on Caroline In The City. As a comic, Rudetsky won Stand-Up NY's "Funniest Gay Male" contest, The Duplex Stars of Tomorrow Grand Prize and had the long running, critically acclaimed show, The Seth Rudetsky Show, at Rose's Turn. With his comedy partner, Jack Plotnick, he performed An Evening with Joyce Dewitt and Mortification Theatre at Caroline's and The HBO Workspace in Los Angeles. In addition to his volunteer work with Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS, Rudetsky has also lent his talent for the past 10 years to Lifebeat's Heart and Voices, bringing sassy singing to hospitalized People Living with HIV and AIDS. Recently, Seth appeared on Law and Order: C.I. as Eddie Dayton and as Rudy, Erica Kane's Las Vegas choreographer, on All My Children. He is a very busy DeeJay on Sirius Satellite Radio and can be heard every weekday afternoon on "The Beat 66" and every night on "Broadway's Best 77." In June, Ghostlight Records will release a CD of the HAIR concert he produced/conducted featuring Ana Gasteyer, Adam Pascal, Lea DeLaria and American Idol's Jennifer Hudson. Currently, he is filming Made on MTV which will air in August. Seth Rudetsky graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music with a degree in Piano Performance. He currently resides in New York City. |
